The Professor Adebayo Shittu Research Award for postgraduate students, an annual investment to support Professor Adebayo Shittu's state-of-the-art molecular biology laboratory, powers molecular biology and oncology research, which are core to Africa's technological and public health advancement.

The Fund is managed by First Bank Trustees, who invest the capital in high-yield government bonds and money market instruments to ensure sustainability and growth.
Who sponsors the AMIR FEST?
Ridwan M. Sorunke sponsors the Fund and associated awards.
How are beneficiaries selected?
Merit-based selection: Awards are based on the best academic and sport performances Teacher award: Selected via student votes. Research grants: Subject to open applications reviewed jointly by the department and the Fund’s selection body.
Are there mentorship opportunities?
Yes. Select awardees, such as top WAEC and JAMB scorers will receive annual academic and career mentorship from Mr. Ridwan Sorunke.
Do I apply for the postgraduate research grant?
Yes, the department will announce an open call for applications for the research grants. Recipients will be selected based on the evaluation criteria.
What kind of research is eligible for the research grant?
Eligible research for this grant include scientific and medical research in infectious diseases and oncology using traditional medicine.
Who can apply for the Professor Adebayo Shittu Research Grant?
Only postgraduate students (PhD and MSc) with scientific and medical research in infectious diseases and oncology using traditional medicine in the laboratory of Professor A.O. Shittu in the Department of Microbiology, Obafemi Awolowo University, can apply for this grant.
